The Dreamcast's BIOS chip can be replaced (or a secondary chip added) to remove region checks, A/V connectivity compatibility checks, and add new features.

Examples of custom BIOS versions include japanese-cake's BIOS hacks v1.031 and v1.032 and cpasjuste's DreamBoot. This page is a stub page. It needs to be expanded with more detail. If you know more information about this topic, please sign up and contribute to dreamcast.wiki!
